Cookie Policy
Last updated: 14 April 2025 · Effective: 14 April 2025
1. What Are Cookies
Cookies are small text files that a website places on your device when you visit. They allow the site to remember certain information about your visit — such as your language preference or whether you have acknowledged a notice — so that you do not need to re-enter it each time you return.
Cookies do not give websites access to your device or to personal files stored on it. They are widely used and form a standard part of how most websites operate. This policy explains which cookies we use on the Quietleaf website, why we use them, and how you can manage them.
2. How We Use Cookies
We use cookies for three purposes: to keep the website working as expected (essential cookies), to understand how visitors interact with the site so that we can improve it (analytics cookies), and to remember choices you have made (preference cookies).
We do not use cookies to serve advertising, to track you across other websites, or to build a profile of your personal spending habits or financial situation. The cookies we use are modest in scope and directly related to delivering and improving our educational programmes.
3. Types of Cookies We Use
Essential cookies are required for the website to function and cannot be disabled. Without them, certain features — such as the cookie preference panel itself — would not work.
| Name | Purpose | Duration | Type |
|---|---|---|---|
ql_cookie_consent |
Stores your cookie preference choices so we do not ask again on subsequent visits. | 12 months | Essential |
ql_session |
Maintains a temporary session identifier while you are on the site. Expires when you close the browser. | Session | Essential |
Analytics cookies help us understand how visitors find and use the site — which pages are read, where visitors arrive from, and how long a typical visit lasts. All data collected is aggregated and anonymised; we cannot identify individual visitors from it.
| Name | Purpose | Duration | Type |
|---|---|---|---|
_ga |
Distinguishes unique visitors for anonymous traffic counting. Set by Google Analytics. | 2 years | Analytics |
_ga_* |
Stores session state for the current analytics session. | 2 years | Analytics |
_gid |
Distinguishes users for 24-hour session reporting in Google Analytics. | 24 hours | Analytics |
Preference cookies remember simple choices you have made — such as a programme you expressed interest in or the section of the site you were reading — so that the site feels more consistent across visits.
| Name | Purpose | Duration | Type |
|---|---|---|---|
ql_pref_scroll |
Remembers the reading position within longer programme pages to aid navigation on return visits. | 30 days | Preference |
4. Third-Party Cookies
The analytics cookies listed above are set by Google Analytics (Google LLC). Google may process this data on servers located outside Malaysia. Google Analytics data is covered by Google's own privacy policy. We have configured Google Analytics with IP anonymisation enabled, so individual IP addresses are not retained.
We embed a Google Maps iframe on our main page to show our workshop location. Google Maps may set its own cookies when the map is loaded. We do not control those cookies, and their use is governed by Google's Cookie Policy. No map is loaded until you visit the relevant section of the page.
We do not use cookies from social media platforms, advertising networks, or any other third-party services.
5. Managing Your Cookie Preferences
You can adjust your preferences for optional cookies at any time using the panel below. Essential cookies cannot be disabled as they are required for the website to operate.
Withdrawing consent for optional cookies will not affect any personal data collected before withdrawal, and will not prevent you from using the website or enquiring about our programmes.

6. Browser-Level Cookie Controls
Most browsers allow you to view, block, or delete cookies through their settings. The steps vary by browser; the links below point to the support pages for common browsers:
- Google Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data
- Mozilla Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
- Microsoft Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions → Manage and delete cookies
- Safari (macOS/iOS): Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data
Blocking all cookies may affect the functionality of some websites, including parts of ours. Clearing cookies will reset any preferences you have set here.
7. Policy Updates
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time as our site evolves or as applicable guidance changes. The date at the top of the page shows when it was last revised. Where the change is material — for example, if we introduce a new category of cookie — we will notify enrolled participants by email and display a notice on the website.
